These twin brownstone towers on the Navesink Highlands are among the most recognizable landmarks on the Jersey Shore, and the history they hold is extraordinary. The current structure was built in 1862, but a lighthouse has stood on this promontory since 1828. Twin Lights was home to the first American use of the Fresnel lens, the first wireless telegraph station in the U.S. (Marconi demonstrated it here in 1899), and the site where lifesaving techniques and equipment were developed and tested. The views of Sandy Hook and the Lower New York Bay from the top of the towers are genuinely spectacular.
