This 18th-century Dutch-style farmhouse in Bedminster played a quiet but real role in the Revolutionary War — it served as the quarters for General Henry Knox and his staff during the Middlebrook encampment of 1778-79. Knox was Washington’s chief artillery officer and one of the most important figures in the Continental Army. The house has been beautifully restored by a dedicated local preservation group and sits on the banks of the North Branch of the Raritan River. The setting is pastoral and genuinely lovely.
