Cross Estate Gardens has a rich history that dates back to the early 1900s, when the Cross family made this property their summer retreat. Today, it’s a beautifully preserved mix of history, horticulture, and natural beauty, all carefully maintained for visitors to enjoy.
The gardens themselves are a treat to explore. You’ll find a combination of formal and native plantings, a wisteria-covered pergola perfect for photos, and a striking mountain laurel allee. Winding paths lead through meadows and woodland areas, offering plenty of quiet spots to pause, relax, and soak in the scenery. You can even spot remnants of the estate’s historic features, adding a layer of discovery to your stroll.
Cross Estate Gardens is open daily from 8 a.m. to dusk, with free parking and no entry fees. Volunteers maintain the grounds every Wednesday morning from April through November, and the estate hosts annual plant sales, garden tours, and seasonal events. Whether you’re a history buff, a nature lover, or just looking for a peaceful escape, Cross Estate Gardens delivers a few hours of beauty, history, and calm in one charming package!
