The day begins with a Colonial Encampment at Hourihan Field (201 Broad Street) from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, featuring blacksmithing, primitive archery, tomahawk throwing, flintlock rifle demonstrations, scheduled cannon firings, colonial games for kids, trade bead demonstrations, and more. Admission and activities are free for all ages.

While you’re downtown, stop by the Matawan FRESH Farmers & Makers Market in front of the Municipal Building from 10 AM to 2 PM, featuring local farmers, bakers, makers, and vendors.

The Matawan Historical Society NJ will be on hand throughout the day with information about Matawan’s rich history, self-guided walking tours of significant downtown sites, and tours of the historic Burrowes Mansion from 10 AM to 3 PM.

The celebration concludes with the grand finale, the Matawan Fireworks Spectacular at Lake Lefferts Park! Beginning at 6:30 PM, families can enjoy inflatables, glitter tattoos, balloon art, sand art, giveaways, and live music by @Funny Bone. Food, ice cream, and light-up novelties will be available for purchase. Be sure to catch patriotic float displays and a special performance by the MRHS Concert Band as they provide the soundtrack to an unforgettable fireworks show.
